Much need relaxation......

OK, so I know most of you will be disappointed BUT this post has really nothing to do with the adoption..... So stop reading now if you do not care to read about non adoption related blogs...

My girlfriend Jessie and I went to Glen Ivy on Monday for an amazing day of relaxation!!! I received a couple gift cards for Christmas so I used them on a fantastic massage, many spa and pool dips, mud bath and a shea butter and oil hydration thingy.... We had such an amazing day and just what I needed after all the nerves and stress that comes along with being "paper pregnant"...  I also know once we have a baby the spa days will be few and very far in between... I might as well get all the selfish things out of the way.. not that I will miss it... I would much rather hang out with my child then go to a spa any day!!!

OK, fine I will give one adoption update! We were told today that they were presenting our portfolio to a birth mother. I guess the reason I was so nervous and excited over it was because it was the first time we were showed.. I am sure we will be shown to many others before we are ultimately matched. What are the chances we would get matched with the very first mother who sees us? I would LOVE for that to happen and can pray and wish for it but we have to be realistic! I also know it is completely out of our control and 100% in God's hands... He already has a baby picked out for us and that baby is up there with all of our grandfathers and they are having a ball with the baby...
So please keep up the prayers and positive thoughts we always need them!!!

In The Pool....

We received an email tonight letting us know that our Home-Study is officially done and submitted!!!! We were actually hoping this would have been done last week but as we all know sometimes there are unexpected issues that may arise! Nothing to bad just a couple of misplaced papers that had to be re-submitted to the social worker. So now that everything is done and the social worker submitted the home-study to the agency we have to sign a contract and send in a check for $6500.00. BUT GUESS WHAT???? We already did that!!!  We are now just waiting to hear back from the agency as to when they are going to put us on the website so all of our adoring "fans" can go and see our faces online ...or... for the birth mothers to look at as they make the decision on who will raise their unborn child!
We are so joyful that the home-study wasn't as bad as we thought it would be, it actually went by so quickly and smoothly we are a little weary as to what part of the adoption is going to be difficult. Maybe the difficult part for us will just be the cost of the adoption. We filled out some applications for grants and are hoping to be awarded something! Anything and everything helps! So if any of you hear of any grants available to adoptive families that we may not know about (we know of several and are applying to as many as we can) we would love to hear about them! Also the fundraiser my family started for us has really blessed us and showed us how many people love, support and care for us and our desire to have a family. Thank you to all who have shared, prayed and donated it means the absolute world to us. We will never be able to put into words how grateful we are to each and every one of you.

Blessed!!

SO much to be excited, blessed and thankful for!

First off we had our last interview today. The last interview consisted of gather all the final documents we had yet to give her and the final inspection. The inspection is where they check to make sure our house is safe for an infant; make sure we have a crib and dresser. She walked through our house and said everything was great!!! She said she will put everything together this weekend and submit it to the agency next week!!! So that is super exciting that we are getting done with this step!! Next step we have is the matching part. This is where we get put in the "pool" for birthmothers to look at us and judge us... just kidding this is a very important part for the birthmother this is where she decided who is worthy of raising the child she has cared for in her belly!

Our next blessing is our fundraiser... My family has created a donation site for us and seeing all of our wonderful friends and families donating, sharing and praying for us brings us to tears. We are in Awe of how many people are truly happy and supportive for us! We love you all!!! Here is the link to the fundraiser if you would like to check it out!!

Feeling good!!!

Okay, so we have had a busy and interesting week. Thursday the 31st our social worker Cassandra, came to our house to interview us and look around our house. She wanted us to talk about our childhoods and how did certian events in our lives impact how we live our lives today. She wanted to talk to us seapreatly as well, She sat with Hank first and wanted him to talk about alcohloism and what has he done to become sober and and stay sober. Quick side note Hank will be sober 8 years in March, so so happy and proud of him. Next she sat down with me and wanted to know how I handled and am handeling my infertility. I honestly told her is was a very devistaing thing to hear and I was heartbroken and with the support of my family, friends and of course Hank I am handeling it. I have sad days but I know I was meant to be a mommy and it will happen whether it is biologically mine or not! After speaking with us she wanted to look around house and make sure it is safe for an infant. She told us a few things needed to be changed. One of our side windows had a small crack in it so we had to replace that window. Our fireplace is "fire on ice" so there are clear rocks in it so when the fireplace is on it appears there is fire on ice.... The rocks are obvioulsy a chocking hazard so all we have to do is remove rocks and just put candles in it to basically make it a decorative fireplace. Who in southern california uses a fireplace anyway!!! We also had to put our crib together...

Hank "daddy" built it on Saturday and we both stood there and cried after he was done because we now KNOW we will have a baby in there one day soon!!

On Friday we had our second interview and this interview she wanted to see our yard and make sure our yard was safe for a child and it was!!! We do not need to fix anything! Thank goodness!!
I called my mom to tell her all about the interview when she stopped me and said "guess where your dad is?" She said he was out on the corner in a busy intersection pan-handeling.. My dad made a sign that was asking for finacial help for our adoption. Our adoption is very expensive and we have money saved up for it, but there are still other expenses to get ready for the baby and my dad wants to make sure our baby will have everything it needs. Especially since it could happen within a couple of months of finishing our homestudy!
Hank and I are just so blessed to have such amazing support from so many people and we could not have asked for a better family to bring in an adoptive child!! Where ever you are my sweet baby, and whenever you get here in my arms we are ready for you!! We already love you more then you could imagine!!
