Okay, so we have had a busy and interesting week. Thursday the 31st our social worker Cassandra, came to our house to interview us and look around our house. She wanted us to talk about our childhoods and how did certian events in our lives impact how we live our lives today. She wanted to talk to us seapreatly as well, She sat with Hank first and wanted him to talk about alcohloism and what has he done to become sober and and stay sober. Quick side note Hank will be sober 8 years in March, so so happy and proud of him. Next she sat down with me and wanted to know how I handled and am handeling my infertility. I honestly told her is was a very devistaing thing to hear and I was heartbroken and with the support of my family, friends and of course Hank I am handeling it. I have sad days but I know I was meant to be a mommy and it will happen whether it is biologically mine or not! After speaking with us she wanted to look around house and make sure it is safe for an infant. She told us a few things needed to be changed. One of our side windows had a small crack in it so we had to replace that window. Our fireplace is "fire on ice" so there are clear rocks in it so when the fireplace is on it appears there is fire on ice.... The rocks are obvioulsy a chocking hazard so all we have to do is remove rocks and just put candles in it to basically make it a decorative fireplace. Who in southern california uses a fireplace anyway!!! We also had to put our crib together...
Hank "daddy" built it on Saturday and we both stood there and cried after he was done because we now KNOW we will have a baby in there one day soon!!
On Friday we had our second interview and this interview she wanted to see our yard and make sure our yard was safe for a child and it was!!! We do not need to fix anything! Thank goodness!!
I called my mom to tell her all about the interview when she stopped me and said "guess where your dad is?" She said he was out on the corner in a busy intersection pan-handeling.. My dad made a sign that was asking for finacial help for our adoption. Our adoption is very expensive and we have money saved up for it, but there are still other expenses to get ready for the baby and my dad wants to make sure our baby will have everything it needs. Especially since it could happen within a couple of months of finishing our homestudy!
Hank and I are just so blessed to have such amazing support from so many people and we could not have asked for a better family to bring in an adoptive child!! Where ever you are my sweet baby, and whenever you get here in my arms we are ready for you!! We already love you more then you could imagine!!
